Background and purpose of the assignment

Malteser International (MI) is an international humanitarian aid organiSation. It is the relief agency of the Catholic Sovereign Order of Malta and fulfills its mission to “serve the poor and the sick”. 

Since 1956, our core task has been to improve the health and well-being of suffering and displaced people around the world. We provide emergency and disaster relief in the immediate aftermath of acute disasters and work towards the rehabilitation and reconstruction of afflicted communities. We work on the frontlines to provide immediate and long-term relief to those who need it most.

In alignment with MI’s commitment to providing impactful and sustainable humanitarian aid, the organisation would like to engage a proposal writer to assist its country team in Venezuela to develop a project proposal for submission to the European Commission’s European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations (ECHO).

Specifically, the proposal writer will support with the following:

• Assess the current status of the project design intended for the ECHO proposal.
• Provide feedback and recommendations for improvement in the project design.
• Assist in developing a comprehensive written project proposal, ensuring high chances of securing funding.
• Ensure the proposal meets all technical minimum requirements set by ECHO.
• Guarantee that all elements of the eSingle form for proposal submission are adequately addressed.

What we delivered

Working closely with the MI project team in Germany and Venezuela country team, our proposal writer delivered the following services:

• Reviewed and provided expert feedback on the project design.
• Reviewed donor requirements including templates, requested documentation, and deadlines.
• Worked collaboratively with the country team to develop (first and second drafts), and subsequently review and refine (proofread and finalise) the proposal narrative, incorporating inputs and feedback from the team.
